Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 8, 2026

Overview

A Space is an educational, school-supervised certification for high-school student-athletes. This policy explains what limited information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. A Space is not a clinical or therapy service and does not collect mental-health records.

Information we collect

We collect only the minimum information needed to run the program:

  • Student name
  • School-issued email address
  • Course progress and quiz completion used to track participation and issue certificates

Students should use their school-issued email address, not a personal one.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or link any sensitive mental-health disclosures to a student's identity. A Space is a course; it does not create counseling notes, diagnoses, or treatment records. Free-response support conversations happen offline between people and are not captured by this platform.

How we use information

Information is used solely to administer the certification: authenticating student logins, tracking participation and progress, issuing and verifying certificates, and giving the supervising school an admin view of its own students' progress.

We do not sell or share your data

We do not sell student data and do not share it with third parties for advertising or any unrelated purpose. Data is handled under the supervision of the participating school and is accessible to that school's authorized staff for the purpose of running the program.

Compliance

A Space is designed to comply with applicable student-privacy laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and New York Education Law § 2-d. Before students log in, participating districts sign a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) that governs how student information is handled, protected, and deleted.

Data retention

Student information is retained only for as long as needed to administer the program and maintain certificate records, or as specified in the district's Data Privacy Agreement, after which it is deleted.
